Returning to Safety Through Your Root Chakra
Written Meditation
There are moments when the body simply needs to remember that it's safe.
Not because everything in life is perfect.
But because, in this moment, you can choose to soften.
Tonight, as you prepare for bed, allow yourself to settle beneath your blankets. Adjust your pillow. Stretch your legs. Wiggle your fingers. Let your body know that there's nowhere else you need to be.
Take a slow, deep breath.
Feel the air travel all the way down into your hips.
As you exhale, imagine that breath traveling gently up your spine and out through your mouth, carrying away the tension you've collected throughout the day.
Take another breath.
Even slower this time.
Allow your body to become heavy.
Allow your mind to become quiet.
Now imagine yourself surrounded by a beautiful white light.
A light that is loving.
A light that is gentle.
A light that simply holds you exactly as you are.
You don't need to earn this light.
You don't need to become someone different.
You simply receive it.
Now bring your awareness to the very base of your spine.
Your deepest hips.
Your sit bones.
Your root chakra.
Notice that area without trying to change anything.
Simply become aware.
As you breathe into this space, imagine a deep ruby-red light beginning to glow.
Rich.
Warm.
Grounded.
With every breath, that light becomes brighter.
Clearer.
More vibrant.
Where there was tension, there is softness.
Where there was heaviness, there is space.
Where there was fear, there is steadiness.
Allow yourself to feel the qualities of this energy center.
Safety.
Security.
Groundedness.
Protection.
Support.
Provision.
There is enough.
You are supported.
You are held.
You are safe.
Remain with these feelings for a few quiet breaths.
Allow your body to absorb them.
Allow your nervous system to remember them.
Now watch as that beautiful red light gently brightens.
It becomes infused with a radiant white-gold light.
The two lights blend together, filling your root chakra with harmony and peace.
Everything that needed your attention has received it.
Everything that needed love has received it.
Before you drift off to sleep, place your awareness one final time on your root chakra.
Quietly say,
Thank you.
Then softly whisper,
I love you.
Take one last deep breath.
Exhale slowly.
And allow yourself to rest.
